Rake
|
Rake is the commission, usually between 5 and 10 percent, taken by a poker provider. As poker is a player versus player game, this fee is usually the principal way a house generates revenue. In online poker, the fee is used to cover support, software and personnel. In casinos and cardrooms the fee can be used to pay the dealer and support staff, as well as paying for gaming equipment and the physical building. In offline scenarios the dealer manually removes chips from the pot, whereas in online poker, the rake is taken automatically by the software program.
