Arcade Games

An arcade game is traditionally a coin-operated machine installed in a video arcade, restaurant or family entertainment center. The earliest arcade games were shooting galleries and ball toss games in amusement parks. The first coin operated games simply played mechanical music or told a person's fortune. The earliest pin ball machines were made in the 1930's. In the 1970's and 80's coin-operated games such as Pong, Space Invadors, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong became very popular. By the early 2000s, networked gaming via computers across the interet appeared, largely replacing the status of arcades as the forefront of new game releases.
